8-20-21   THOUGHTS

There are several good points for us to contemplate below; 1.) We should have reverence for our prayers,   2.)  what we say has great consequence and it affects our hearts,   3.)  a “kind smiting”, a reproval in righteousness, must be a learning experience!
Ps 141:1-5     O LORD, I call upon You; hasten to me! Give ear to my voice when I call to You! 2  May my prayer be counted as incense before You; The lifting up of my hands as the evening offering.
3  Set a guard, O LORD, over my mouth; Keep watch over the door of my lips. 4  Do not incline my heart to any evil thing, To practice deeds of wickedness With men who do iniquity; And do not let me eat of their delicacies.
5   Let the righteous smite me in kindness and reprove me; It is oil upon the head; Do not let my head refuse it, For still my prayer is against their wicked deeds.

Prov 15:8     The sacrifice of the wicked is an abomination to the LORD, But the prayer of the upright is His delight.
Mal 1:11 "For from the rising of the sun even to its setting, My name [will be] great among the nations, and in every place incense is going to be offered to My name, and a grain offering [that is] pure; for My name [will be] great among the nations," says the LORD of hosts.
1Tim 2:8    Therefore I want the men in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and dissension.
Ps 39:1    I said, "I will guard my ways That I may not sin with my tongue; I will guard my mouth as with a muzzle While the wicked are in my presence."
Jas 1:26    If anyone thinks himself to be religious, and yet does not bridle his tongue but deceives his own heart, this man’s religion is worthless.
Jas 3:2   For we all stumble in many ways. If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body as well.
1Sam 25:32-33    Then David said to Abigail, "Blessed be the LORD God of Israel, who sent you this day to meet me,  33  and blessed be your discernment, and blessed be you, who have kept me this day from bloodshed and from avenging myself by my own hand.
2Sam 12:13   Then David said to Nathan, "I have sinned against the LORD." And Nathan said to David, "The LORD also has taken away your sin; you shall not die.”
Prov 9:8     Do not reprove a scoffer, or he will hate you, Reprove a wise man and he will love you.
Prov 25:12    [Like] an earring of gold and an ornament of fine gold   Is a wise reprover to a listening ear.
Rev 3:19   ‘Those whom I love, I reprove and discipline; therefore be zealous and repent.”

My Prayer:
Father, we praise you and thank you that we can come before you in prayer and know that you listen.  May we ever treat that privilege with reverence.  Keep our tongues from evil and the off color, and give us boldness to tell the story of Jesus.  May we covet our rightness more than our embarrassment, as loved ones try to encourage us in the right.

In the name of our Lord.   Amen
